Miles for Miles

Read on to find out a little more about Nicola and why she chose to support this charity…

What are your day-to-day responsibilities?
My day to day responsibilities include client interaction, whether this is informing them on a successful outcome or a rejection from the lender and what the next steps are.  Collating all relevant information from the client to refer unsuccessful outcomes to the Financial Ombudsman for an independent assessment. Chasing lenders for the redress for our clients and once received working with the Accounts Department to transfer the refunds to the clients.

What made you choose this charity?
The funds are going to Miles for Miles charity event, which will in turn, be for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital’s Maternity Unit. I have recently joined a CrossFit gym.  We are holding a charity event on 17th August to raise as much funds as possible for the chosen charity. One of our instructor’s nephew (Miles) was stillborn earlier this year and his brother and sister in law got to spend some precious time with him with the aid of a cold cot.  The event is complete all 135 hero workouts within 12 hours and for anyone who goes or has done CrossFit before will know this is no easy task.

What do you like about working a Allay?
I have a great little team that I work in. It’s also a nice working environment. I also like that staff are recognised for their hard work, whether it be employee of the month or ice-cream or lunch paid for everyone from time to time.  It’s the little things like that can make you feel appreciated.

What did you want to be when you were younger?
I wanted to be a nurse or a midwife, slightly different career path now as I’m training to be an Accountant.

What do you like to do outside of work?
I like going to the cinema, going on holiday and I joined CrossFit a few months ago which is keeping me busy.  I have just completed level 2 AAT and start level 3 at college in September.

What the biggest must do on your bucket list and why?
Visit Washington DC, I really want to go to the Smithsonian Museums at National Mall. My parents took me and my sister to many museums when we were little and I have always been fascinated seeing and learning new things.  This is on the list to do in the next couple of years.
