Down’s Syndrome North East

After receiving amazing praise from his colleagues, Jonathan Lowes was awarded this month’s £1,000 to donate to a charity of his choice.

At Allay, we’re always keen to play our part in the community, regularly contributing positively and actively to worthy local and regional causes. In addition to our company fundraising events and initiatives, we also donate £1,000 every single month to four local charities chosen by some of our dedicated employees at Allay. Read on to find out a little more about Jonathan and how Allay’s donation will help his charity…

1. Hi Jonathan! Firstly tell us about your role and what some of your day-to-day responsibilities are?
As an Office Administrator at Allay, I do lots of different things such as filling out spreadsheets for Royal Mail figures and undeliverable, filling envelopes with forms such as letters, submissions or questionnaires, and keeping things nice and organised by tidying my desk and recycling cardboard.

2. What is your chosen charity?
My chosen charity is Down’s Syndrome North East, also known as DSNE.

3. Why did you choose this charity?
DSNE supports people with Down’s Syndrome, their families and carers. They offer lots of great help and advice, and also arrange brilliant social events and activities for anyone with Down’s Syndrome. I’ve made lots of friends through DSNE and also met my girlfriend Stephanie through them too.

4. How will Allay’s donation help make a difference to DSNE?
DSNE have pledged to use Allay’s generous donation to subsidise events for their members over the summer. These will include fun activities and days out such as horse riding, a trip to Lightwater Valley and art workshops.

5. What do you like about working with Allay?
I like working with friends and being part of such a great team. I’m very proud of myself for having a paid job.

6. What did you want to be when you were younger?
I always wanted to work in an office – or be manager of Newcastle United Football Club!

7. What do you like to do outside of work?
As a season ticket holder at Newcastle United, I love going to watch the football when I can. I also really like going to the cinema too. With DSNE I also get to go bowling, go to parties and attend fun workshops.

8.  What is the biggest ‘must do’ on your bucket list and why?
I’m a big movie fan so I would love to go to New Zealand to see where ‘The Hobbit’ and ‘Lord of the Rings’ were filmed!

Congratulations to Jonathan – we know your charity donation will make a huge difference to the lives of many people.
