Must-Have Money Saving Apps

For many, gone are the times of saving up money in a piggy bank and scouring the shops for the best deals. These days, the handiest tools are often a mobile phone or tablet filled with thousands of apps to help you out.

With a wide variety available at the touch of your fingertips, knowing which ones are worth downloading can be a difficult choice.

To make it easier, we’ve done our research and selected our top five money saving apps. Here goes…

 Money Dashboard

With Money Dashboard you can budget more effectively to help make savings. Users can securely connect with their bank and credit accounts and keep track of money going out. All spending is categorised, making it clearer where you could tighten your belt a little.

It’s easy to set up, and you can even sign up for weekly email updates if you choose. As well as this, saving goals can be set to spur on that all-important motivation to save. More information here.

We all love a bargain but sometimes there’s just not enough hours in the day to shop around. With Idealo you simply search for a product or scan a barcode and it shows its cost from other retailers.

A worthwhile download for any bargain hunters out there. More information here.

This app is great for saving money on your weekly shop, as it allows you to compare the price of thousands of products from all of the big supermarkets. By filling your imaginary shopping trolly you can work out which supermarket works out cheapest overall and place your order (or head down your local store if your prefer).

More information here.

Whether shopping for a pizza or a holiday, you can usually find a voucher that gets you some money off. Sometimes it can be hard to keep track of all the deals available but with VoucherCodes everything is in one place.

It has a great feature which allows you to see which shops nearby are offering deals. More information here.

You’ve probably heard of PPI but many people may still not be aware of whether they were mis-sold it or not. In the past you might have had to go through a long and laborious process to find out if you are due any money back but not anymore, with Allay you can quickly check on its new app.

You only need details of your lender, date of birth, a recent address history and the names of any other people listed on your bank account to make an enquiry. Why wouldn’t you want to claim back money that is rightfully yours?

More information can be found here.
